Introduction
Khargone, also known as the "Village of Cotton and Chilli," is a city and the administrative headquarters of Khargone district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is located in the state of Madhya Pradesh.
History
Khargone has a rich history, having been ruled by various dynasties including the Haihayas, Parmars, Ahirs, Muslims of Mandav, Mughals, and Marathas. The city was part of the West Nimar district, which was later bifurcated into Khargone and Barwani districts.
Tourism
Khargone offers several attractions for tourists. The city is also known as Navgrah ki Nagri due to the Navagraha Mandir situated on the banks of the Kunda river.

Geography and Climate
Khargone is situated on the south-west border of Madhya Pradesh, at an elevation of 258 meters. It lies within the Narmada River valley, bordered by the Vindhyachal mountain range to the north and the Satpura range to the south. The Narmada river flows for approximately 50 km through the district.
The climate of Khargone is transitional, exhibiting characteristics of both tropical wet and dry (savanna) and humid subtropical climates. Summers are typically hot and dry, with temperatures often exceeding 40°C. The monsoon season begins in late June, bringing an average rainfall of about 36 inches. Winters are mild, with temperatures ranging from 4°C to 15°C.
Culture and Economy
Khargone has gained recognition for its cleanliness, securing the 10th position in Swachh Survekshan 2020. It was ranked 15th in 2018 and 17th in 2017.
The district's economy is primarily agriculture-based, and it is renowned for its significant production of cotton and chili peppers.
